Development during Late Adulthood(after 60-year-old)

Abstract
Theory of late adulthood development is not well established yet. There were many myths or misbelief. Furthermore psychoanalysis or psychotherapy might be contraindicated. Nowadays there was prevailing trends to practicing psychoanalysis or psychotherapy with cautious attitude. Increasing number of the aged, needs for psychological wellbeing and quality of life, and psychological and social distresses etc. should be contributed to the more demands for psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. The most serious developmental tasks in this period might be the confrontation to his death as inevitable. ego- or self- integration can be achieved over this task. To lose is to get and vise versa. The aged¡¯s wisdom arise from these experiences. From reviewing the literature case, the author knows the facts that various and complex transference issues happens at any times, and these transferences can be provoke therapist¡¯s countertransferences. So, we should be alert to these phenomena and comprehends these familiarly and should overcome with the peer¡¯s supervision. Psychoanalysis or psychotherapy for the aged could be done time- and cost-effectively. But more systematic theories and upright empirical knowledges should be sought, for these results.
